MP4 vs MP3 from X: what to grab when
Every XDL grab starts with a format choice: MP4 or MP3. That is not a tech flex — it is the difference between a clip you can drop into a chat and a track you can listen to on the train.
Choose MP4 when…
- The picture matters: goals, demos, memes, news moments, UI walkthroughs.
- You will repost, edit, or share in apps that expect a video file.
- You want the highest fidelity X actually serves for that post (including higher resolutions when available).
On the grab screen, XDL may offer quality tiles (for example 720p / 1080p / higher). Pick the highest you need — bigger is not always better if you are only sending a 15-second joke to group chat.
Choose MP3 when…
- You only care about the sound: music, interviews, commentary, rants worth replaying.
- Storage or data is tight and you do not need frames.
- You are building a listening library, not a video archive.
MP3 skips the quality grid. XDL extracts audio and finishes the job with less ceremony — same validate → download loop, audio-only output.
What XDL does not do
- We do not stamp a watermark on your file. The download is the media X exposed, packaged for you.
- We do not store your media on our servers. Files go to your device; the library keeps lightweight references for re-grabs.
- We do not invent 4K that X never served. If a quality is missing, it was not available for that post.
A simple rule of thumb
If you would open it full-screen, grab MP4. If you would put headphones on and walk away, grab MP3. Change the chip on the home page before you hit Grab it — one decision, no mid-download drama.
Bulk + formats
Bulk mode queues many URLs with the format you selected for the batch. Use MP4 for archive sweeps of visual threads; switch to MP3 when you are harvesting audio-only posts. Mix carefully: a batch of mixed intent is usually two bulk runs, not one confused ZIP.
