Breaking: Orangemen had began to walk the Drumcree Road, they stopped half way down the hill and returned . Heavy police presence both here and on Garvaghy Road @BelTel

Standoff continuing at Drumcree Church, with at least 20 police Land Rovers in the area. The Orange Order were stopped by police after a short walk and returned to the hall. Jamie Bryson told police: “It’s about time you grow a backbone and complete this march.”

Disorder at Drumcree 1998. Extra 800 troops sent to Ulster. Police in riot gear moved in to disperse a group of Loyalist youths who were blocking road. The Orangemen in Portadown vowed to stay put until victory is theirs. Garvaghy Road.

Drumcree 1997. Locals are hemmed into their homes by British military armoured personnel carriers in order to force a triumphalist Orange Order march down Garvaghy Road Ironically this meant that Catholics were barred from attending their local Church for mass

As a standoff now takes place on Drumcree Road with protesters, the Garvaghy Road has broken into song. Police have now pulled out of the Garvaghy Road area @BelTel
